Do you have a teen interested in a career with pets? Do they just want to learn how to groom their own dog at home? Spark your child’s entrepreneurial spirit and creativity with this hands-on pet grooming workshop, geared towards kids 12-17 years old!
Learn how a grooming salon runs, practice bathing and drying real dogs (bring your own or borrow a shop dog), and spend time perfecting a haircut using real tools on a model dog (plastic model dog with synthetic hair). Your child will be guided by Hamisha, salon owner and 19 year veteran of the industry, who will help develop basic handling skills, teach industry terminology and tool safety/usage, and provide a tool list, book and continuing education recommendations, and visuals for grooming your own pets at home.
Please pack a snack/lunch and bring a water bottle! This is a single day workshop and will run from 9 am - 2 pm on designated dates. Participants will be able to take their model dog home to keep. A personal dog is NOT required but can be accommodated as long as they are used to bathing, drying, and brushing and are handleable by your child (under adult supervision and guidance). We will not be doing any haircuts on live animals. All grooming equipment and tools (tables, shears, clippers, blades, shampoo, tub, dryers, etc. provided). Cancellations are possible up to 1 week in advance for 75% refund.
